14 Fun & Engaging STORY content ideas

Im calling this THE MOTHER-OF-ALL lists of fun & engaging STORY CONTENT ideas for Instagram. Use these to drive engagement and build relationships with your followers! Did you know that a study conducted by META found that more than 1 in 3 people said that they have become more interested in a brand or product after seeing it in instagram stories!? Further, there are 4 different types of content people value MOST in stories. Wanna know what they are? I’ve included a screenshot from the study, below:

I really hope you find these ideas helpful:


  • Create a series of informative slides about WHO you are, WHAT you do and WHO you help so that you can save these as a highlight to your profile (if you haven’t already!). This is prime real estate & makes it easy for a ‘cold’ lead (someone who doesn’t know anything about you) decide whether they want to follow you or not.

  • Unbox a new product delivery to create hype. If you are service-based, share a snippet of something you’re working on & talk about it & how it’ll help others. If there’s multiple products, include a box to ask which is their favourite or ‘Ask me a question’.

  • Share B-roll footage of you just doing normal things in a workday. Speed it up so it fits. Write a sentence on top about what you’re doing or include an answer box. People are quite voyeuristic by nature and honestly love to just watch others doing mundane tasks.

  • Lead magnets. Promote your freebie to grow your email list by including a link straight to it here!

  • Share results (or testimonials) from a customer. People want to know that you can help them with their problem & that they should trust you! Share YOUR wins & results too.

  • Talking to camera Q&A Sessions to answer customer/follower questions. People can also get a better sense of who you are (& your energy) through this.

  • Daily Routine: Give followers a glimpse of your daily work routine or office culture. Let them be a fly on the wall. Take them on the journey with you

  • Behind-the-scenes (typical workday)

  • Product Demos: Highlight the features and benefits of your products or services.

  • Introduce a team member and share their role (if you have someone).

  • User-Generated Content: post content created by your customers using your products or have a content creator (MEEEE 👋🏻) create something for you! This is also where you re-share anything that you’re tagged in. It will also ‘save’ it for you so you can re-post

  • Polls and Surveys: Engage with your audience by asking them questions or conducting polls. Like I did on my stories prior to posting this!

  • Industry Insights: Share relevant NEWS or insights about your industry with links for people to click over to

  • Event Coverage: Share highlights from events your business attends (or hosts) or even where you’re working from that day

  • Fun Facts: Share interesting facts or trivia related to you or your industry. You can even add polls or question boxes to get your followers interacting
