How Pinterest Can Help You Grow Your Brand

I recently published a ‘reel’ on my instagram page, walking you through HOW TO ‘pin’ images to your pinterest board in two different ways! Feel free to check that out over on my @thatachellesgirl instagram. Aside from that, here’s a few things I wanted to cover that I couldn’t in the reel:

WHY PINTEREST MATTERS

The short of it is, Pinterest allows your content/products to be seen by a completely NEW audience that you wouldn’t otherwise have access to on Instagram, alone. Depending on your goals with implementing a Pinterest strategy, you can either drive traffic to your instagram page OR you can drive traffic to your website! Here’s how:

OPTION 1: HOW TO PIN IMAGES

The first option for pinning images on your Board is to manually pin them yourself. This can be more time consuming than the second option but you have more flexibility to add in google keywords and hashtags this way.

STEP 1: Open Pinterest and find the + symbol and select “Create Pin” or “Create Board”. A board is another way of saying ‘album’ and pin is another way of saying ‘photo/video’.

STEP 2: This takes you to your camera roll where you can select the image you wish to ‘pin’ or upload.

STEP 3: Clicking the ‘next’ button will prompt you to fill in all the fields relating to your image. You’ll need to give a “Title”, “Description” you have the option to add a “destination website” (your website) and, lastly, “Alt text”

The aim is to put as many keywords into each of the fields as possible so that Pinterest can rank your image better. Think of search words YOU use when you’re looking for something on Pinterest, yourself. Just yesterday I was searching for: “Valentines Day Makeup looks” for example. The more specific you can be, the better.

STEP 4: Click “Next” when you’re finished filling in all the fields.

STEP 5: Simply select which board you’d like this image to show up under and you’re good to go. I have several boards on my profile such as: ‘Makeup looks’, ‘boho chic outfits’, my business/brand ‘That Achelles Girl’ etc

Now that’s the first option and the next option is definitely much quicker and easier:

OPTION 2: HOW TO PIN IMAGES

The second option requires you to ‘claim your instagram account’ which is easily accessible through your Pinterest account settings.

STEP 1: Head to “Settings” then “claimed accounts” and simply toggle the option ON for “instagram”.

STEP 2: Next you’ll want to exit Pinterest and switch over to your Instagram account

STEP 3: Select any image posted to your Instagram grid that you want to cross-post to your Pinterest audience and click on the three dots (top right of the image) “…” to see more options

STEP 4: Select “Share to” from the dropdown menu

STEP 5: Scroll right down till you see “Save to Pinterest”

STEP 6: Select (tick) the image and click save. It’s that simple

You’ll notice with this option, anyone who views this image on your Pinterest can simply click on it to be redirected straight to your instagram account! Pretty easy, huh!?

Depending on whether you want to drive more eyeballs to your WEBSITE or to your INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT will help you decide which ‘pin method’ to use.

For a step-by-step video guide on all of this, jump over to my instagram page and you’ll find this video posted to my REELS tab.

Hope you found this helpful!

What do you love about using PInterest??
